I was contacted by Mrs. V in December to do her family photos.  We talked about doing a few inside and than the majority outside.  However when I woke up last Saturday I knew right away that we would NOT be doing any photos outside.  It was bitterly cold, snowing and very windy.

However I got my gear and headed over.  Mrs. and Mr. V have been blessed with 6 children(3 boys and 3 girls).  I honestly love love love large families.  There never seems to be a dull moment ;-)

Thanks for allowing me into your home V Family!!  Hopefully we will get together this spring/summer for some outdoor family photos =)

“The Miracle of birth…” January 22, 2011

My dear friend Jessica who owns “Live the Moment Photography” recently branched out and started “Breath of Life – Birth Photography”.  When we were pregnant with my son there was no question as to wheather or not we would have Jessica photograph the experience.  I will still put in my DVD that she gave us and watch it.  And each time I do my eyes fill up tears.  She captured the joy, the tears, and the love in our eyes when we first saw our son.

This was Jessicas third pregnancy(arent they blessed?!). She right away went with a midwife(different from her other two pregnancies), and as her pregnancy progressed she decided(with much research) to do a home birth.  She than asked me if I would photograph the birth.  I was honoured and of course said yes!  Not only was this my first birth to photograph but it was also my first birth to witness(besides delivering my son).

Here is a little quote from Jessicas birth story that she has shared with friends and family.

“…

Before long, I was in the final stage of labour and got into the tub.  This was the hardest phase for me, as it is for most woman, but with the help and support of my wonderful husband and my midwives, I did it.

I was able to feel the baby’s head come down and was guiding my pushing because of that.  The midwives (who were all sitting alongside the tub), allowed me to follow my own lead, with some gentle reminders that I could do this, and I was doing it well.  After just a few short minutes and a couple of pushes, I had birthed Landon Carter Chang into my own hands and brought him onto my own chest at 12:57am on Thursday, January 20th.

There he was, our son.  A first for me in SO many ways.  First son, first natural labour, first COMPLETELY drug free labour,  first home birth, first water birth and the first time I had birth my own child into my own hands.  An amazing way to bring a child into the world. …”

I hope you enjoy these photos Jessica and family.  If anybody who is reading this and is interested in having birth photography for your next miracle PLEASE give Jessica a call and or email.  Her email is livethemomentphotography@gmail.com You can check out her fan page here:

Thank you so much Jessica for allowing me into your home, it is something that I will always cherish and never forget.

Enjoy…

Excitement in the family… January 18, 2011

The holidays are always a great time spent with family, and of course making many wonderful memories.  This holiday season was a little extra special because not only did one family memeber got engaged BUT two did!  My father in law and my brother in law both got engaged to two wonderful ladies, and we couldnt be happier for them.

So obviously when my father in laws new fiance asked me to take their engagement photos I quickly agreed.  I obviously wont be shooting their wedding, so it was very nice to do this for them.

It was a VERY cold day however we some how managed not to freeze during the shoot and when we were finsihed we all warmed up to a nice warm cup of hot chocolate.

We are so excited for you two and cant wait till May!  Congratulations!!

It doesnt always go as planned… January 12, 2011

“J” contacted back in the summer and asked if I would do her soon to be daughters newborn photos.  Her precious Hanna arrived here in November and it took us till this past week where we were both available and not sick.

So obviously after all that planning you would expect the shoot to go smoothly,  however little Heath had other plans.  His combine(John Deere of course!) needed his attention.  Although the shoot didnt go as planned, I think the pictures turned out perfect!  There may not be that ‘perfect’ family posed picture, however there are photos that capture who Heath and Hanna are.

Hanna is a precious as she looks. She looks just like her mama.  Heath is an adorable busy little man, who truly is a farmer in training.  And he obviously has great taste in tractors! ;-)

Enjoy your sneak peak “S” family, thanks for allowing me in your home.

Winter Morning… January 11, 2011

After a night of snowing I love waking up in the morning with a fresh layer of snow on the ground.  On Monday morning I woke up and what a beautiful morning it was! The sun was just starting to rise so there was a nice glow over the newly fallen snow.  I quickly grabbed my camera and got a few photos.  I would have stayed out longer, however it was a TAD cold and my warm cup of tea was calling my name =)

What a wonerful canvas God has given me to capture!
